Memories From Our Past
Memories from our past ebb and flow like the waves on the beach,
and sometimes they may even surprise us and spray right over our heads
and knock us tumbling to the hardened, white sand.
And yet, memories that are sweet can soften the present and give us hope
for our future days that lie down a unseen corridor, beckoning us to keep
moving forward, no matter what, no matter who is there or not there in our lives.
Memories are God’s gift on a lonely night, on a lonely pillow of better days,
and sunshine and a new day to look forward to with anticipation, instead of dread.
Memories are our bandaids to seal the wounds of yesteryears.
Our minds were formed to forget the bad, and cling to the happy times
and most of the time we are successful at this, and other times our
sub-conscious thoughts invade us when we sleep.
Memories can be wonderful and kind to our minds that long for peace.
My favorite memories as a child is watching Bob Hope sing to the American
troops on the holidays, and ending with his famous “Thanks for the memories….”
chorus that filled us all with a sense of hope and peace that better days must surely
lie head. Watching those fellas listen to Bob while shyly brushing away their tears,
made us all believe and be thankful for the memories.
And wouldn’t you just know it? Tears in my eyes
as I realized the whirl of technology will enable me to
put Bob Hope’s music right here, right now on this Southern
Gal’s page. I will be listening to…..thanks, Bob!

Great site you have here but i seem to be having a problem subscribing to your RSS feed. Everytime i click it it comes up with error 824. It might be my own desktop. I have a Mac with AVG AntiVirus. Im not sure if its Disabled. Let me know if anyone else has mentioned any issues or its just me. Im not too good with PCs. I cant see my message after submitting so im not sure if you will see this. Ill bookmark your site and check by in a couple of days for a response. Please let me know if you know of a solution
