What Do You Want?

Soul

Spirit or Heart – Nothing is more attractive than a beautiful heart of giving and kindness and goodwill. Why do we love those favorite Christmas movies that we watch every year, every single year and can’t feel like we have holidayed unless we have watched THAT movie. It is because of the good will in these movies.

Our heart cries out for happily ever after. We seek those who are down and out make it to the top. We see those who gave of theirselves, their lives, their sweat and pain so that others might have a better way of life – win. And we want to think that we can win too. We can win if we do it right. Maybe not every time. But maybe this time. This time we will win. This time we will choose the right partner. This time our child will appreciate and love us because we sacrificed and loved them. This time our parents will have that welcome in their eyes and love us unconditionally. This time our dream job will have our name on its envelope. This time the wealth that we need to use as a tool to better our lives and those that we love, will come true. The great lottery of life will knock on our door. No more hopes, no more chances, no more losing tickets. It is time to win. And you can. It is a matter of the will and the mind and the soul.

Your soul is a reflection of the thoughts that you allow to take up residence. What did you let in? What did you usher out? What do your thoughts center around the most? That is what your soul will feed on and your mind will envision and your actions will follow and your feet will walk there and your life will turn there.

Does an alcoholic ever dream to lie homeless in the gutter? Does a President ever dream of taking the Oath of Office? See the contrast – and yet – they are the same powerful thoughts that will drive you to heights of success that you only dream about, or dark pits that your nightmares are made of.

What do you want? That is what Jesus asked the sick, the lonely, the despised and rejected of His day. What do you want? He is asking you now. We don’t always get exactly what we want because what we want isn’t always what we need. If your motives are pure and you ask for the sake of what you were destined to do here on this planet, there are many avenues that you can take to get what you truly want and need. If you don’t squander the gifts you are given, you can make a difference in the world while you are here.
